Why Technology is Taking Over Our Lives

Your locker is your saviour – place your bag on one shelf and your books on the other, where they easily accessible. Keeping your locker tidy is like keeping your mind tidy – you don’t want to be rummaging through your locker looking for your calculator right before a Maths exam.

  1. Download digital copies of your textbooks so you don’t have to carry your countless textbooks to and from school; you will not be happy with the future back problems you get as a consequence. Try studying with a physical textbook at home, to make reading and flipping through pages easier, and with a digital copy at school to lighten your load.

  2. Keep your laptop bag pristine by not cramming the whole year's books and handouts in your laptop bag – it gets heavy and, to be honest, your laptop will probably shut down at the most inopportune moments as payback.

  3. If you can’t remember your locker code, write it somewhere you won’t forget. Trust me, it is better to write it somewhere than leaving it unlocked for people to turn your locks the wrong way – you don’t want to be that person who has to turn their head upside down to open their locker.

  4. Handwrite notes from class and don’t relying on always typing them out. It has been proven that writing down notes better facilitates remembering the information. Also, you will be able to find the notes much faster than going through the countless folders you have.

  5. Writing your notes in different colours helps remember certain topics easier – so try to use your most elaborate pens to write down your notes. Just don’t spend too much time deciding whether to use light blue or a dark blue.

  6. If a teacher says something is “important” or precedes something with “HINT, HINT!”, it’s important. Make sure you highlight it and come back to it during revision.

Lastly, enjoy your year with your friends and take some time to relax in the midst of the heavy period of school.
