Move Over, The Voice (Kids)

Earlier this year, 25 CHAC students, including myself, along with students from schools all around Brisbane attended the State Honours Ensemble Program, otherwise known as SHEP. SHEP is made up of talented students from South-East Queensland who can either play a band instrument, string instrument or sing. After what felt like countless early mornings and late nights practicing and preforming, our conductors and music teachers believed we had what it took to perform at the Queensland Conservatorium with conductors specially selected from all over the world.

After 14 total hours of rehearsal across the Friday and Saturday, and three hours on the Sunday, a fabulous concert was put together with musicians from over 70 different schools across South-East Queensland - demonstrating the skills and effort we had shown across the three days. SHEP was a great experience for my fellow peers and myself as we not only learned skills from our outstanding conductors and from other excellent students, but also what it felt like to be a part of a musical production. In all, SHEP was a absolute gift of an experience to attend and I look forward to seeing the production next year.
